The sister has been accused of beating a brother-in-law with a tree and occupying the disputed land for a long time. The incident took place at around 9am on Tuesday at Guata village of Raninagar upazila. Both sides made a written complaint at the police station. The injured brother Shahidul Mandal and Bhabhi Jannatun Nesha were rescued and taken to Naogaon Hospital.
A few years ago, Sahara Khatun Mewa, the younger daughter of the deceased Nabir Uddin Mandal, collected some land from her father, along with several settlements. For a long time, there was a conflict between Sahara Khatun Mewa and his brothers over this. To resolve the incident, dignitaries including local union council chairmen held several rounds of meetings. But there was no solution but Saharat Khatun’s elder brother Shahidul Islam filed a Batwara case in court. Suddenly, on Tuesday morning, younger sister Mewa Khatun brought in foreigners and tried to occupy the place and build a house. At the time of the obstruction, brother Shahidul Islam and his two brother-in-law Anjuara beat Jannatun Nesha and tied him to a tree and tried to build a house.
However, locals secretly kept photographs on mobile phones. Police later rescued them from the spot. Later, they were admitted to Naogaon Hospital. The younger brother of the injured Shahid Abu Hanif Mondal said that a long time ago, his younger sister Sahara Khatun collected some land from Mewa’s father, including their residence. A number of meetings were held with the local union council chairman. But as there was no solution, Brother Shahidul Islam filed a Batwara case in court. All of a sudden, the younger sisters came and tried to grab the land by beating the brothers and sisters. Sahara Khatun Mewa, the accused, said that they had not been leaving my place since they had received the documents from their father.
I was forced to go home with the advice of local dignitaries. If they interrupt, they are tied to the tree. In this regard, Raninagar police OC Zahurul Haque said there was a dispute between the siblings over three hundred acres of land. The brothers also knew that the land was sister. The landowner was hit by a landlord raising his house. However, it is not known whether torture was tied to a tree. Zahurul also said that he had received a written complaint from both sides. He said legal action would be taken after investigating the matter.
